International Diamond Association (IDA) Tools

Tools for a broad range of machines, regardless of their age and sophistication

Dessau Home In 1952,the Industrial Diamond Association (IDA) formed a committee whose purpose was to reduce the variety of tool shanks used in the manufacture of diamond wheel-dressers.  Over the years, the committee worked closely with the American Standard Society and the American Society of Tool Engineers, as well as with an array of grinder manufacturers.  After almost three years of extensive research, the committee published its results.  It amassed in a single compendium the engineering drawings of more than 100 of the most frequently specified shanks - designs that then accommodated almost 90% of all wheel dressing applications.

Since the completion of the IDA's efforts in 1952, virtual armies of new grinders and grinding wheel compositions have been introduced. Many of these require special dressing

These rotary tools replace expensive and fast-wearing single-point profile diamond. Modern high-performance abrasives like CBN or diamond grinding wheels in vitrified bond can be dressed an profiled successfully by diamond profile rolls with diamond version P.
